A temporary network connectivity has been restored to both Hotchkiss and CDUB residence halls. All original Wi-Fi networks are broadcasting, and students can now connect to Masters-WiFi. Access is currently being provided through a temporary vendor-installed solution. The vendor estimates that work on a permanent solution will begin by the end of next week, depending on repairs to malfunctioning equipment.
Because the temporary solution has limited bandwidth, please use Masters-WiFi primarily for essential academic and work-related tasks rather than video streaming or gaming, and disconnect when you’re finished so others can stay connected. Please note, since Masters-WiFi is now available, we will disable Masters-Temp.

Update
Update - The repair work is taking longer than expected due to vendor equipment malfunction. The vendor is working to restore Wi-Fi in both dorms with a temporary solution. We will post another update as soon as service is back, along with the estimated timeline for the permanent repair. Residents may notice a short interruption with Internet access when that final work is done.
Until service is restored, please continue to use the campus Wi-Fi in other buildings or the temporary Wi-Fi network in the first-floor lounges of C.W. Smith and Hotchkiss. Bandwidth on the temporary network is limited, so please use it for essential needs and disconnect when you are finished so others can connect. Credentials are available exclusively to C.W. Smith and Hotchkiss residents at https://central.masters.edu/mywifi.

Update
The vendor is scheduled to begin repair work tomorrow morning, and has confirmed that the work is expected to take 2 days to complete. As mentioned previously, please leverage the WiFi network that serves the rest of campus, or the temporary WiFi network that was setup in the first-floor lounges of both dorms. Credentials for the temporary dorm lounge Wi-Fi networks are exclusively accessible by C. W. Smith and Hotchkiss dorm residents at https://central.masters.edu/mywifi.

Update
We’re working with the vendor to finalize the repair timeline, which we currently expect to take about 2 days. We’ll post another update once the timeline is confirmed.
Temporary Wi-Fi is now available in the first-floor lounges of Hotchkiss and C.W. Smith. Bandwidth is limited, so please use it only for essential needs like homework, avoid gaming and streaming, and disconnect when finished so others can connect. Wi-Fi credentials can be found at https://central.masters.edu/mywifi.

Identified
We have identified the cause of the outage as physical damage to the fiber line serving the C.W. Smith and Hotchkiss dorms, likely caused by rodents in an outdoor conduit. We are working with a vendor to repair the line. A timeline is not yet available, and we will post an update once repair work is scheduled. In the meantime, Wi-Fi remains available in other campus buildings, including nearby dorms and common areas such as the Library and the Dunkin Student Center.

We are currently investigating the issue. While Wi-Fi is down for these dorms, residents still have Wi-Fi access on other areas of campus, including the nearby dorms.
